    Biography

    Yolette Yellow-Duke has been an artist her whole life. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, she’s been dancing almost as long as she’s been walking. She studied at the California Institute of the Arts and recived a BFA in Dance at Montclair State University, where she's trained under Colin Connor, Julie Bour, Rosanna Gamsen, Christian Von Howard, and Earl Mosley. Yolette also trained at the Bates Dance Festival, Movement Research’s MELT Intensive, and at the American Dance Festival, where she was a stagecraft apprentice for companies including Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Ballet Folklorico, Shen Wei Dance Arts, and Pilobolus.

     

    As a performer, she’s worked with Andre Tyson, Sara Hook, Camilo Godoy, and James Avery, and recently danced in her first music video for the band Ava Luna. Her choreography for the piece “Bayou Blues” premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015, and "Void" premiered at the Here Arts Summer Sublet Series in 2018. She is currently the artistic research intern for Proteo Media.
